The Thelema Foundation strengthens Thelema as a living tradition through scholarship, education, spiritual formation, publication, and the patient work of building resources that can endure.
Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen Thelema as a living religious and intellectual tradition—one rooted in spiritual liberty, serious study, responsible practice, mutual support, and service.
We pursue that mission by developing educational resources, publishing thoughtful work, supporting research, creating opportunities for training and collaboration, and building practical tools for individuals, families, professionals, and communities.
Our Vision
We envision a future in which Thelema can be studied carefully, taught responsibly, practiced meaningfully, and discussed credibly both within its own communities and in the wider world.
That future requires more than good ideas. It requires reliable publications, accessible learning, preserved sources, well-made tools, capable people, and institutions designed to outlast their founders.
From isolated effort to lasting work.
Thelema has produced more than a century of serious thought, creative work, and spiritual practice, but too little durable infrastructure. Important books become difficult to find. Journals disappear after a handful of issues. Teachers and researchers often work alone. Valuable projects are built from scratch, then vanish before the next generation can extend them.
The Foundation exists to help change that pattern. We support work that can be preserved, tested, improved, and handed forward: scholarship held to real editorial standards; educational materials people can actually use; tools for close reading and research; resources for lived practice; and public inquiry willing to face difficult questions without retreating into slogans.
Our purpose is not to control Thelema or appoint ourselves its authority. It is to help make the tradition more teachable, sustainable, generous, and publicly responsible.
The Thelema Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Contributions support the Foundation's charitable and educational mission and are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Make important texts, research, commentary, and educational work easier to find, study, cite, and carry forward.

Support writing, teaching, research, and discussion that value evidence, clear reasoning, editorial discipline, and honest disagreement.

Encourage educational, charitable, and humanitarian work where there is a clear need, responsible leadership, and the capacity to make a genuine contribution.
The Foundation's Work
Publishing
We publish and support serious work in religion, culture, criticism, the arts, science, education, politics, and public life. Our flagship publication, Mere Thelema, is built around editorial independence, peer review, and the expectation that claims should be argued rather than merely asserted.
Research and Preservation
We develop tools and resources for careful engagement with Thelemic texts, including close reading, comparison, citation, concordance, and long-term preservation.
Education and Spiritual Formation
We are developing materials that support broad learning and lived practice: resources for individuals, families, teachers, homeschoolers, and study groups, as well as formation tools that connect spiritual commitments with daily life.
Civic and Cultural Inquiry
We support serious inquiry into liberty, responsibility, institutions, community, and the common good. The aim is not to impose a party line, but to make room for disciplined thought and meaningful disagreement.
How We Work
Liberty without isolation
Individual freedom matters, but freedom does not require everyone to work alone. We build shared resources without demanding uniformity.
Standards without dogma
Serious editorial and educational standards make disagreement more useful. They do not require a single approved interpretation.
Tradition without stagnation
We take inherited texts and practices seriously while recognizing that a living tradition must continue to think, test, create, and respond.
Service beyond identity
A tradition should be judged in part by the quality of life and work it helps produce. We want Thelemic institutions to be useful, generous, and responsible neighbors.
Stewardship for the long term
We favor work that can be maintained, documented, improved, and passed forward over projects built only for immediate attention.

The Foundation serves independent Thelemites, readers, students, scholars, writers, editors, teachers, families, professionals, local communities, and organizations looking for serious resources and constructive collaboration.
You do not need to belong to a particular order or institution to benefit from the Foundation's public work. Our resources are intended to support thoughtful engagement across organizational lines and to make worthwhile material available to the wider public where appropriate.
